WARNING: EXERPT WILL REQUIRES COMMITMENT TO HARD WORK
We all have used the excuses I don’t have time, I work too much, I’m too tired, working out takes too long or its too hard, but who really believes these statements other than the person who’s telling them to make themselves feel better? Truth is, you do have time, you just prioritize wrong. How many times have you promised yourself you would start taking walks at night, going to the gym, or reading more? Too many to count? So why do you continue to tell yourself these things?
There’s no secret how to prioritize your tasks, but here are some of my secrets in prioritizing goals and trust me, as a college student in Grad school, working, and training for marathons prioritization is IMPORTANT and life changing!
First think of the goal you want to reach (i.e running a marathon), now apply how you can use these 3 points in reaching that goal.
Do Whatever it is First Thing in the Morning

This is my favorite. You add extra time to your day while others are sleeping and you can usually work undisturbed while your mind is unfazed from the rest of the day’s problems. The morning is my favorite time to exercise; my body is awake, while my brain isn’t awake to talk myself out of the long runs! But the real reason this is a successful is based on WILLPOWER. We, as natural human beings, only have a small amount of willpower to use every day. All too often we burn this willpower out during the day with school, work, or family. So why not take a portion of that willpower to get through a morning workout or even the projects that you have been putting off? Much easier than dreading it in the evening!
Write it Down
Too easy right? When you write goals (no matter the size) you are 1.2 to 1.4 more times likely to accomplish them (Forbes). This can go two ways; you can write them in a journal or you can simply write them on a sticky note. Sticky notes are fun because you only see 1 goal per sticky which narrows your focus on accomplishing that one specific goal. But if you do use the sticky note, stick it to places that you won’t only see it to but it will eat away at you until you do it.
Whatever is you style, find it, stick to it (no pun intended) and accomplish every task you write down!
Break It Up
Only when you procrastinate does a dreadful task have to be done all at once under a deadline. Often we don’t want to exercise or complete the project because we are DREADING the work and time that we will have to put into it that we just don’t have at the end of the day. Again referring back to our willpower, it is limited. If you don’t accomplish that goal in the morning, you can always break it into pieces. For example you only need about 30-45 min a day to be effective so split, if it’s exercise you are putting off, do 25 min in the morning and 20 min in the evening. Plus, we usually spend this much time in the morning of evening on social media or watching Netflix anyways. Let’s put that time to better use towards our success. You’ll never get that time back!
Although these are just simple ways to improve your time management in reaching your goals, there are so many other ways to get things done but it will require scheduling, preparation and time management. If you are an EVOe you’ll be optimistic that you can and will accomplish anything you want taking any measure you can to reach it!
Every Day be Very Optimistic!
