Goal Setting Tips

Every month you should look back on where you are now vs. where you were at the beginning. Same goes for each week or each year! Whatever works best for you. Did you improve? Did you do what you say you would do? It’s not a bad idea to write what you want down at the beginning of each month so you can look back at the end.

Don’t make goal setting too hard, but don’t make it easy on yourself. Challenge yourself, make goals something that you will actually have to work for rather than goals you know are easy to achieve and you don’t have to think about. Your first goal will always be the hardest, but once you know you can dedicate yourself and achieve one, you’ll have the dedication and determination for any goal you set your mind to after that!

Questions to ask yourself to get started:

  • What do you want/ see yourself doing?
  • What drives my motivation everyday?
  • What are my strengths? What are my Weaknesses?
  • What is my definition of success?
  • What is needed to get there? (resources, people, skills, certifications, experience)
  • How can you separate it into smaller parts?
  • What is the deadline? When should I achieve this goal? Is it time sensitive?

Remember Goals need to be SMART (specific, measurable, agreed upon, realistic, time-bound)
